The Fractal Design Define R5 Mid-Tower Case in black offers a modular layout and effortless access to components. Featuring ample space for a custom build, the Define R5 allows entry via the side and front panels. Two removable external 5.25″ drive bays are located behind the hinged front panel. Inside, there are eight bays for 2.5 or 3.5″ drives and two 2.5″ SSD mounts behind the motherboard. The case supports up to seven expansion cards and accommodates GPUs up to 12.20″ in its default state or 17.32″ with the top HDD cage removed. CPU coolers up to 7.09″ and PSUs up to 11.81″ are supported in the default configuration.
The Fractal Design Define R5 comes with two preinstalled Dynamic GP14 140mm fans. Additional fans can be installed at the top, bottom, side, and front. Users can also opt for water cooling with radiator support up to 360mm at the front and 420mm at the top when certain drive bays are removed. Easy access is facilitated by a quick-release left-side panel and a right-side panel with thumb screws. The hinged front panel allows access to fans, drive bays, and dust filters. The case features sound dampening, ModuVent covers, and a three-speed fan controller. A front I/O panel includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1, two USB 2.0 ports, and 3.5mm audio jacks, alongside power and reset buttons and an LED drive activity indicator.
